Weed Control

In the battle against invasive vegetation and the promotion of healthy ecosystems, Envirotechniques employs a diverse array of weed control methods tailored to suit various landscapes and project scopes.

Our approach ensures meticulous management of weed populations with a specialisation in grass identification, including invasive species such as Chilean needle grass (Nassella neesiana), serrated tussock (Nassella trichotoma) and cocksfoot (Dactylis glomerata).

Whether in expansive areas or precise zones, our integrated methods champion environmental health and sustainability while effectively combating the spread of invasive species.

Mechanical Weed Control:

Mechanical weed control is an efficient solution to reduce biomass that prevents seeds from reaching maturity. We utilise machinery to manage weeds swiftly and successfully in various landscapes. Effective for clearing large areas or maintaining specific zones, mechanical weed control methods provide a reliable and tailored approach to promoting healthier environments and managing invasive species.
Includes:

  • Biomass collector
  • Brush cutters
  • Ride-on mower
  • Tractor operations
  • Slashers
  • Mulchers

Hand Weeding:

We advocate for a sensitive approach to manage high-quality remnant vegetation and revegetation sites. Hand weeding can be undertaken exclusively, utilising minimal impact practices and accepted industry procedures (e.g. Bradley Method). Some sites can require an exclusive hand weeding strategy, while others can benefit from a combination of hand weeding, backpack spraying, brush cutting and other techniques. Our operators have excellent plant identification skills and are committed to protecting indigenous vegetation and minimising damage to non-target species.

Knapsack spraying:

Backpack spraying in a remnant area or a revegetation zone requires a sensitive and skilled approach to protect indigenous vegetation while controlling the spread of weeds. Envirotechniques utilises a variety of selective and non-selective herbicides for this purpose.

Quikspray Rig Spraying:

Broad-scale herbicide application can be undertaken using our Quikspray rigs mounted on four-wheel-drive vehicles for ease of access in remote areas. This efficient method tackles widespread weeds in difficult-to-access areas, including along rivers, streams and roadsides.
